Scholarships

As part of Segar & Sciortino’s commitment to the future of Greater Rochester, we support area high school and Monroe Community College students through a number of scholarships.

Stephen A. Segar Epilepsy Scholarship

This scholarship was created in 2007 to support college-bound high school seniors who are living with epilepsy.

At the age of 35, Steve Segar was diagnosed with epilepsy. During his epilepsy journey, Steve learned how to manage his condition while continuing to support his family and run a successful law firm. Realizing that an epilepsy diagnosis doesn’t mean someone has to alter or abandon their dreams is one of the many reasons Steve created this scholarship.

Rochester-area students interested in applying for the Stephen A. Segar Epilepsy Scholarship must be living with epilepsy and planning to attend a four-year college in the fall. Three scholarship winners will each receive a $3,500 scholarship.

To apply for the scholarship, students must:

  • Complete and submit an essay and this application, which includes a signature from their treating doctor
  • Submit a copy of their most-current high school transcript (can be “unofficial”)
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from a high school teacher or counselor
  • Submit a college application, acceptance letter, or confirmation of enrollment

Download the scholarship application here.

Applications should be mailed to the attention of Tracy DonVito at the address below by Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
